Goals:

Connect researchers working on wilderness and
adventure risk/safety research

Share findings to create a platform for idea
development and future collaboration
3.
Focus on empiricism as a means of improving
understanding or practice for wilderness/adventure risk management and safety
Symposium Format:

1 day pre-conference to the Wilderness Risk Management Conference (symposium date October 30, 2019; conference date Oct.
31/Nov.1)
·
Presenters apply via brief research paper (paper
submission details tab at top of page)

20 minute presentation, 10 minute discussion per
presenter
o
Papers vetted via double-blind peer review
·
Attendance open to anyone in addition to
presenters (i.e. interested individuals)
·
Pre-register with WRMC as per pre-conference
process
·
Registration fee of $25 per person for either
paper presenters or attendees (which is just to cover the cost of room rental for the day!)

The Research Symposium is being hosted and Chaired by Dr.
Clare Dallat and Dr. Jeff Jackson. We are honoured to have as our keynote

Paper Submissions:
Authors are encouraged to submit any previously unpublished paper
in any way related to wilderness or adventure risk or safety research.
Empirical quantitative and qualitative papers are equally welcome.
Theoretical/non-empirical papers may be considered for their relevance.
