Call for Research Presentations!

Call for research presentations! Join us at the 6th annual Adventure Risk Research Symposium held in conjunction with the Wilderness Risk Management Conference October 15-17, 2024.

We invite all adventure risk management and outdoor safety researchers to submit an abstract or research summary for consideration. From these submissions, you may be invited to author a short research paper and present your findings at the symposium. Our goal is to showcase a range of findings, methods, researchers and topics for discussion! Our intention is to find a place for any relevant, empirical research.

The abstract or summary for consideration is informal and only a couple of paragraphs, and just includes:

  • context of the research and research question
  • methods, data set and collection (in brief i.e. 1 paragraph)
  • key findings
From these submissions a collection of researchers will be asked to proceed to author a short paper and present their findings at our symposium. Short paper guidelines and presentation details will be provided for selected authors, and can be found here

The symposium intends to run online in 2024 as a pre-conference session with the WRMC. You do not need to attend the WRMC conference to attend the symposium online. It is free!

Of particular note we want to encourage new researchers, students, or those working in the field with access to data to make the leap to bring their work to our symposium. Need help? Contact the symposium chairs and we will set you up with a research mentor to help get your findings onto paper!

Abstracts are due June 1, submitted via email to the Symposium Chairs Dr. Clare Dallat or Dr. Jeff Jackson (email link here!).
